God’s Plans vs. My Plans

Have you made any plans for this year? The reality is we all can think of things we would like to see happen in 2008. Some of us are better planners than others, but none of us can be sure that what we plan will happen. The future is in God’s hands.

As I think about plans, I am reminded of a very special verse in Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Personally, I find comfort in knowing that my Lord and God has good plans for my family and me. Am I curious to know what those plans are? You bet. However, the good part is that God has something good for us. It may be that what we consider to be good is very different than the good God has for us. Therefore, we ought to be flexible enough to change our definition of good if necessary.
God will never push anything on us, not even His good plans. We must have eyes to see His good plans, accept them and then experience them.

At the beginning of this year, we want to pray the same prayer Moses prayed in Exodus 33:14-17 – “Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” And the LORD said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”
